We all go through difficult times in our lives. The truth is that God never leaves us to go through them alone. We not only have our relationship with Him to strengthen us, but we also have His Word that He has given us for encouragement and strength. Here are some Bible verses that can strengthen you in difficult times.
1. “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” – 1 John 4:4
When we are going through difficult times, it’s important to remember that God is on our side. If you are born again, God lives in you and His Holy Spirit is with you wherever you go. Once we understand this, we can begin to live our lives in strength and confidence because the one who lives in us has already overcome every difficulty and situation that we could ever face. Remember that there is nothing stronger than the God who lives in you.
2. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
Especially in difficult times, true rest is hard to come by. Oftentimes our hardships are made even worse when we are just too exhausted to handle them. However, Jesus calls us into a special kind of rest that we can only find in Him. He invites us to come to Him and experience a rest that He has for us. When you are going through difficult times, ask yourself how your relationship is with Christ. If you have unplugged yourself from Him, you can’t receive the rest that He is offering you. Be sure to strengthen your relationship with Him and enter into the rest that He has for you.
3. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 4:10-11
Never forget what you are actually fighting with in difficult times. We aren’t fighting this world; we are fighting a spiritual war against Satan and his demons. It’s important that we remember who our enemy is and how to defend against him through the armor of God. Make sure you aren’t going to war without any armor! Put on the armor of God so that you can withstand whatever the devil will throw at you.
4. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:2-3
When you are going through difficult times, remember that there is a purpose in the pain. Through hardships and trials in our lives, God produces faith and endurance in us so that we become stronger and more trusting in Him. Whenever you are facing difficult times, remember that it is within God’s plan to build you up and grow you. In all of this, trust God and who He is and keep your eyes on His plans and purposes.
