Lent is traditionally described as the forty (40) day period commemorating the forty days that Jesus spent fasting in the desert before he began his public ministry. It is the period during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity.
Holy Week is the week immediately preceding Easter or can be defined as the last week of Lent. This week begins with Palm Sunday or Passion Sunday, which is the Sunday before Easter that celebrates Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. People laid down their cloaks and small palm branches in acknowledgment of him on this day.
